Porcupine Man Pleads Guilty to Selling Eagle Parts

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Stanley Littleboy, age 36, of Porcupine, appeared before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on September 2, 2011, and pled guilty to Counts I and III of an indictment that charged him with Unlawfully Trafficking in Eagles. The maximum penalty upon conviction of Count I is one year of imprisonment and/or a $100,000 fine; the maximum penalty upon conviction of Count III is two years of imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine.

In June 2009 and May 2010, in Shannon County, Littleboy unlawfully sold parts of an American eagle and a golden eagle. The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Eric Kelderman and Tim Maher.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for December 2, 2011. The defendant was released on bond pending sentencing.
