Man From Mexico Sentenced for Living Illegally in Rapid City

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rapid City man charged with Illegal Reentry After Deportation was sentenced on November 29, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Ramiro Martinez-Rivas, age 26, was sentenced to time served.
Martinez-Rivas was indicted by a federal grand jury on October 4, 2011. In September 2011, he was arrested while living illegally in Rapid City after having been previously deported to Mexico. Martinez-Rivas pled guilty on October 28, 2011.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Rapid City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case.
