California Man Sentenced for Failure to Pay Legal Child Support

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Hemet, California, man charged with Failure to Pay Legal Child Support was sentenced on February 7, 2011, by US District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. Etione C. Hudson, age 36, was sentenced to 5 years of probation, a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund, and child support restitution in the amount of $15,910.54.

Hudson was indicted for failing to pay over $50,000 in past due child support by a federal grand jury on February 2, 2010. Hudson was ordered by the Superior Court of California, Riverside County, to pay $213 per month for his first minor child, commencing October 1, 1999. Said support was subsequently modified to $808 per month for all of his minor children, commencing July 1, 2003. At the time of indictment, Etione C. Hudson had not made a child support payment since June of 2008, and the total arrearage amount was $50,587.54. He pled guilty to the charges on February 7, 2011.

This case was investigated the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant US Attorney Thomas J. Wright prosecuted the case.
