
O'Neill, Nebraska, Man Sentenced for Failure to Pay Legal Child Support

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that an O'Neill, Nebraska, man charged with Failure to Pay Legal Child Support was sentenced on March 14, 2011, by Chief US District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Max R. McClain, age 49, was sentenced to five years of probation, a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund, and child support restitution in the amount of $13,979.99. McClain was indicted for failing to pay over $14,000 in past due child support by a federal grand jury on July 7, 2009. He was ordered by the District Court of Sarpy County, Nebraska, to pay $357 per month for his minor child, commencing April 1, 2002. At the time of indictment, Max R. McClain had not made a child support payment since June 2003, and the total arrearage amount was $14,039. He pled guilty to the charge on December 20, 2010. This case was investigated the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant US Attorney Thomas J. Wright prosecuted the case. |
