
Tennessee Man Sentenced for Failure to Pay Legal Child Support

| US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Gibson, Tennessee, man charged with Failure to Pay Legal Child Support was sentenced on May 9, 2011, by US District Judge Lawrence L. Piersol. Danny D. Hastings, age 44, was sentenced to five years of probation, a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund, and child support restitution in the amount of $27,338. Hastings was indicted for failing to pay over $27,000 in past due child support by a federal grand jury on March 3, 2010. Hastings was ordered by the Third Judicial Circuit Court, Codington County, South Dakota, to pay $169 per month for his minor children, commencing May 1, 1995. At the time of indictment he had not made a child support payment since November 2009, and the total arrearage amount was $27,311. He pled guilty to the charge on February 10, 2011. This case was investigated by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant US Attorney Thomas J. Wright prosecuted the case. |
