
Marty Man Sentenced for Assault on a Federal Officer

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Marty, South Dakota, man charged with assault was sentenced on May 19, 2011, by Chief US District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Richard Bruguier, age 25, was sentenced to three years of probation. Bruguier was indicted for Assaulting, Resisting or Impeding a Federal Officer by a federal grand jury on November 2, 2011. In October 2009, Richard Bruguier resisted and interfered with a law enforcement officer employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Mr. Bruguier's conduct consisted of being disorderly when the law enforcement officer tried to arrest him, including spitting twice at or in the face of the officer. He pled guilty to the indictment on February 24, 2011. This case was investigated by BIA Law Enforcement Services and the FBI. Assistant US Attorney Thomas J. Wright prosecuted the case. |
