U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Conrad Lee Fleury, age 30, of Ft. Thompson, appeared before U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on January 4, 2012, and pled guilty to Count I of the Indictment that charged him with Assault With a Dangerous Weapon. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years' imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and 3 years of supervised release.

While being driven home, the defendant became upset with the victim, and an ongoing altercation occurred resulting in the victim being hit and kicked in the face and body by the defendant.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Crow Creek Agency. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges.
A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for March 27, 2012. The defendant was released on bond pending sentencing.
