
Ft. Thompson Man Charged with Misprision of a Felony and False Statement

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Ft. Thompson man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Misprision of a Felony and False Statement.
Loren "Rocky" Fallis, age 58, was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 14, 2011. He appeared before U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on January 4, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 3 years' custody on the Misprision of Felony charge and 5 years’ custody on the False Statement charge, a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and restitution. The charges are merely accusations, and Fallis is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by the Department of Interior, Office of Inspector General. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges is prosecuting the case. Fallis was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
