United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mission man charged with Possession of Marijuana by a superseding information was sentenced on January 23, 2012, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Michael Brave, age 32, was sentenced to 2 years of probation, a $1,000 fine, and forfeiture of the $327 seized by law enforcement. He must also pay a $25 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.
The conviction arose from a search warrant executed by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Police Department on February 20, 2010, on the defendant’s residence. Law enforcement seized approximately 6 ounces of marijuana, a scale, a marijuana crusher, sandwich bags, $327, and other paraphernalia consistent with drug usage. The $327 seized by law enforcement was obtained, directly or indirectly, as a result of selling marijuana.
This case was investigated by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services and the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller prosecuted the case.
