United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mission woman charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana by a superseding information was sentenced on January 30, 2012, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Arlene Chauncey, age 27, was sentenced to one month in custody, two years of supervised release, and forfeiture of $327 seized by law enforcement during execution of a search warrant. She must also pay a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.
The conviction arose from a search warrant executed by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Police Department on February 20, 2010, on the defendant’s residence. Law enforcement seized approximately 6 ounces of marijuana, a scale, a marijuana crusher, sandwich bags, $327, and other paraphernalia consistent with drug usage. The $327 seized by law enforcement was obtained, directly or indirectly, as a result of selling marijuana.
This case was investigated by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services and the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller prosecuted the case.
