
Eagle Butte Man Sentenced for Second Degree Burglary

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that an Eagle Butte man charged with Second Degree Burglary was sentenced on March 5, 2012, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Cheyne Michael Thompson, age 20, was sentenced to 38 months in custody, 2 years of supervised release, restitution, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.
Thompson was indicted for Second Degree Burglary and Larceny by a federal grand jury on June 22, 2011. Thompson broke into the victim's house while the victim was gone and stole personal property. Thompson pled guilty to Second Degree Burglary on November 15, 2011.
This case was investigated by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Division. Assistant United States Attorney Mikal Hanson prosecuted the case.
Thompson was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal to begin serving his sentence.
