Cherry Creek Man Sentenced for Striking, Beating and Wounding

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Cherry Creek man charged with Assault by Striking, Beating and Wounding was sentenced on March 13, 2012, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Lawrence Tyler Mexican, age 20, was sentenced to 6 months in custody and a $10 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Mexican was indicted for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Aiding and Abetting by a federal grand jury on November 8, 2011. The conviction arose from the assault of a Cherry Creek Man in August 2010. Mexican pled guilty to a Superseding Information charging him with Assault by Striking, Beating and Wounding on January 5, 2012.

This case was investigated by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Division. Assistant United States Attorney Mikal Hanson prosecuted the case.

Mexican was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal to begin serving his sentence.
