Mobridge Man Indicted for Distribution of Marijuana

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mobridge man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for distribution of marijuana, aiding and abetting, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

David A. Dekker, age 51, was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 13, 2012. Dekker appeared before United States Magistrate Judge William D. Gerdes on March 16, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 5 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both. The charges are merely accusations, and Dekker is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller is prosecuting the case. Dekker was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
