
Mission Man Pleads Guilty to Assault

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Paul DeNoyer, age 23, of Mission, South Dakota, appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on March 20, 2012, and pled guilty to Assault by Striking, Beating and Wounding. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 6 months' imprisonment, a $5,000 fine, restitution and a special assessment of $10 to the Victim Assistance Fund (VAF).
The charge stems from a confrontation that ensued between DeNoyer and the victim. DeNoyer struck the victim in the forehead causing a 7mm laceration which required staples to close.
The investigation was conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher.
A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for May 11, 2012. The defendant was released pending sentencing.
