Eagle Butte Man Arraigned on Assault Charges

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that an Eagle Butte man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Assault With a Dangerous Weapon and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.
Ervin D. Addison, age 30, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 14, 2012. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on March 22, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years' imprisonment on each count. The charges are merely accusations, and Addison is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Seiler is prosecuting the case. Addison was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
