United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a St. Francis man charged with Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Marijuana, by a federal grand jury was sentenced on April 11, 2012, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Dana A. Farmer, Sr., age 48, was sentenced to 10 months of custody, 4 years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.
The conviction arose from charges that between January 27 and June 13, 2011, Dana Farmer and others conspired to distribute marijuana. The drug quantity attributable to Farmer based on his role in the conspiracy and all reasonably foreseeable acts and omissions of any co-conspirator taken in furtherance of that conspiracy is at least 2.5 kilogram, but less than 5 kilograms of marijuana.
Farmer has a prior felony conviction for a drug offense. On January 7, 2008, he was convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance in Minnehaha County, South Dakota.
This case was investigated by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services and the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller prosecuted the case. |
