Minnesota Man Sentenced for Lacey Act Violations

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rogers, Minnesota, man charged with violating the Lacey Act and Aiding and Abetting pled guilty to the charges and was sentenced on April 30, 2012, by United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno. Donald C. Sundell, age 54, was sentenced to 18 months' probation, a $1,000 fine, $1,000 in restitution, and a $50 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

The conviction arose from incidents in November 2008 when Sundell illegally shot and killed two whitetail bucks and transported them from South Dakota to Minnesota.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Marie H. Ruettgers.
