
Rosebud Man Sentenced on Charge of Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding a Federal Officer

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud, South Dakota, man charged with Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding a Federal Officer was sentenced on June 19, 2012, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Joel Emery Marshall, age 47, was sentenced to 14 months in custody, 3 years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund. Marshall was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 14, 2011, and pled guilty to the charge on March 2, 2012. The conviction stems from an incident that took place on October 25, 2011, when Marshall assaulted a federal officer. The investigation was conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher. Marshall was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. |
