New York Man Pleads Guilty to Larceny

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Bobby R. Olson, age 24, of Modena, New York, appeared before U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann on July 9, 2012, and pled guilty to the indictment that charged him with Larceny. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 5 years' imprisonment, a $250,000 fine or both.

The conviction stems from an incident in February 2012 when Olson stole a Jeep Cherokee and personal items from numerous other vehicles from the Grand River Casino parking lot.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Standing Rock Agency. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy R. Morley.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for October 1, 2012. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
