Mission Woman Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Officer

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Marjorie Lunderman, age 25 , of Mission, appeared before United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange on July 31, 2012, and pled guilty to an indictment that charged her with Assaulting, Resisting and Impeding a Federal Officer. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 8 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both.

The conviction relates to a May 2011 incident in which the defendant assaulted a federal officer employed at the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Police Department. The officer was conducting a felony stop on a vehicle that Lunderman was driving. Lunderman refused to exit the vehicle, and when the officer attempted to remove her, Lunderman struck the officer in the head with a flashlight.

The investigation was conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services . The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for October 23, 2012. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing.
