Fort Thompson Man Indicted for Assaulting Federal Officer

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Ft. Thompson man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Assaulting a Federal Officer.

Dwight Rank, age 25, was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 18, 2012. He appeared via video conference before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica Duffy on July 27, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 20 years of imprisonment, a $250,000 fine or both. The charge is merely an accusation, and Rank is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. 

The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges is prosecuting the case.
