
Mission Man Pleads Guilty to Possessing Stolen Firearm

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Lucas Swalley, age 24 , of Mission, South Dakota, appeared before United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange on August 14, 2012 , and pled guilty to a Superseding Information that charged him with Possession of a Stolen Firearm. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both. The conviction arose from a May 2011 incident in which Rosebud law enforcement recovered a stolen Remington .22-caliber rifle from the trunk of a vehicle in which Swalley had been a passsenger. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for November 5, 2012 . The defendant was detained pending sentencing. |
