Rosebud Man Charged with Robbery and Assault

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud, South Dakota, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Robbery, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury

Raymond Walter Gassman, age 18, was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 12, 2012. He appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on August 29, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 15 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both.

The charges are merely accusations, and Gassman is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. 

The investigation is being conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher is prosecuting the case.   

Gassman was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending trial.  Trial has not been set.
