Fort Thompson Man Arraigned on Sexual Abuse Charges

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Fort Thompson man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on three counts of Sexual Abuse.

Jarrod Johnson a/k/a Jerrod Johnson, age 40, was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 22, 2012. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on August 30, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is life or any term of years, a $250,000 fine, or both. The charges are merely accusations, and Johnson is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Crow Creek Agency. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges is prosecuting the case. Johnson was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has been set for November 6, 2012.
