Rosebud Man Pleads Guilty to Robbery

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Raymond Walter Gassman, age 18, of Rosebud, South Dakota, appeared before United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange on October 24, 2012, and pled guilty to Robbery. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 15 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both.

On May 8, 2012, Gassman and another individual robbed the Paul Mart convenience store by entering the store with bandanas on their faces to mask their appearance and brandished weapons. Gassman attempted to steal things of value, including merchandise and the cash register from the store clerk.

The investigation was conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for January 9, 2013. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing.
