
Lake Andes Man Pleads Guilty to resisting and Impeding a Federal Officer

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Brent Silk, age 22, of Lake Andes, appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on November 15, 2012, and pled guilty to Resisting and Impeding a Federal Officer. The maximum penalty upon conviction is one year in custody, a $100,000 fine, or both. The conviction stems from an incident that took place on July 22, 2012, when Silk resisted being arrested by a federal officer. This case was investigated by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for January 17, 2013. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. |
