Winner Man Charged with Numerous Assault Charges

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Winner, South Dakota, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Assault with Intent to Commit Murder, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, Robbery, and Resisting and Impeding a Federal Officer.

Darius Two Eagle, age 20, was indicted by a federal grand jury on November 15, 2012. He appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on November 27, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 20 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both.

The charges are merely accusations, and Two Eagle is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher is prosecuting the case.

Two Eagle was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. A trial date has not been set.
