
Parmelee Man Sentenced for Simple Assault

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Clifton Whipple, age 33, of Parmelee, South Dakota, appeared before US Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on November 28, 2012, and pled guilty to the Superseding Information that charged him with Simple Assault of an Individual Under 16. The charge stems from an incident on December 8, 2010, in Todd County when Whipple assaulted a child under the age of 16. Whipple was sentenced to 12 months in custody and a $25 assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund. The investigation was conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, and Assistant US Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuted the case. Whipple was released from federal custody and turned over to state authorities on unrelated charges. |
