Parmelee Man Sentenced for Third Degree Burglary and Aiding and Abetting

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Parmelee, South Dakota, man charged with Third Degree Burglary and Aiding and Abetting was sentenced on December 4, 2012, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Harold James Black Bull, age 19, was sentenced to 9 months in custody, 18 months of supervised release, $5,112.58 in restitution, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

The conviction stems from an incident that took place on February 27, 2012, when Black Bull and others broke into the Kary’s store in Parmelee, South Dakota, by using a crow bar to break the lock off the doorway. Black Bull aided and abetted the burglary, which included entering the store, looking through merchandise, and taking U.S. currency, property, and items.

The investigation was conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher.
