
St. Francis Man Charged with Assault

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a St. Francis, South Dakota, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Assaulting, Resisting, Opposing, and Impeding a Federal Officer and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Jeffrey Curry, age 29, was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 22, 2012. He appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on December 17, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 20 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both. The charges are merely accusations, and Curry is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher is prosecuting the case. Curry was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. A trial date has not been set. |
