Batesland Man Sentenced for Selling Eagles and Hawks

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Batesland man charged with Unlawfully Trafficking in Eagle Feathers was sentenced on February 24, 2012, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Tilden Reddest, age 40, was sentenced to 5 years probation, community confinement on weekends for one year, 400 hours of community service, and a $125 assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

In 2009-2010, near Allen, Reddest illegally sold eagles, hawks, and parts of those animals. He pled guilty on September 30, 2011.

This case was investigated by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case.
