Manderson Man Indicted on Drug Charges

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Manderson man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly conspiring to distribute marijuana and for distributing marijuana near Manderson.

Nathan Ghost, age 49, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 22, 2012, for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Distribution of a Controlled Substance. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on March 12, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction of each count is 5 years' imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. The charges are merely accusations, and Ghost is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura A. Shattuck is prosecuting the case. Ghost was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
