Rapid City Man Sentenced for Living in U.S. Illegally

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rapid City man charged with Illegal Reentry After Deportation was sentenced on April 13, 2012, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Martin Sanchez-Garza, age 43, was sentenced to time served.

In December 2011, after being arrested by the Rapid City Police Department for false impersonation, Sanchez-Garza was found to illegally be living in the United States after having been previously deported to Mexico. He pleaded guilty on January 12, 2012.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Immigration & Customs Enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case.
