Colorado Man Sentenced to Imprisonment for Drug Conspiracy

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Northglenn, Colorado, man charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine was sentenced on July 27, 2012, by United States District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Joseph Gilbert Vigil, age 32, was sentenced to 36 months' imprisonment, 4 years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Vigil was indicted for Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine and Marijuana by a federal grand jury on March 8, 2011. The charges related to Vigil conspiring with others to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine in South Dakota between 2005 and 2010. Vigil pled guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine on April 5, 2012.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Ted L. McBride prosecuted the case.

Vigil was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal.
