
Rapid City Woman Sentenced for Bank Embezzlement

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rapid City woman charged with Bank Embezzlement was sentenced on November 20, 2012, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Krissa Shewey, age 20, was sentenced to 24 months' imprisonment and 5 years of supervised release and ordered to pay $100 to the Victim Assistance Fund and $3,300 in restitution. Between December 2011 and January 2012, Shewey stole checks from mailboxes and then cashed them at a local bank where she worked. She pled guilty on June 28, 2012. This case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Pennington County Sheriff's Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case. |
