Four Indicted for Passing, Making, and Dealing In Counterfeit US Currency

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that four people have been indicted by a federal grand jury for making, passing and dealing in counterfeit US currency.

Jared D. Thompson, age 18, of Elk Point, South Dakota, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 7, 2012, for Making Counterfeit US Currency and Dealing in Counterfeit US Currency.

Nicholas Dooyema, age 18, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 7, 2012, for Dealing in Counterfeit US Currency and Passing Counterfeit US Currency.

Roy Lee Brown, age 23, and Robyn Adolph, age 27, both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, were indicted by a federal grand jury on February 7, 2012, for Passing Counterfeit US Currency.

All four appeared before US Magistrate Judge John E. Simko on February 15, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 20 years’ imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. The charges are merely accusations, and all are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the United States Secret Service and the Sioux Falls Police Department. Assistant US Attorney Jeffrey C. Clapper is prosecuting the case. Thompson and Dooyema were released on bond pending trial, and Brown and Adolph were remanded back to state custody. A trial date has not yet been set.
