Second Sioux Falls Man Charged with Sex Trafficking of a Child

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Sioux Falls man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Sex Trafficking of a Child.

Emmanuel William Nyuon, age 33, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 7, 2012, for Sex Trafficking of a Child. He appeared before US Magistrate Judge John E. Simko on February 17, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a mandatory minimum of 15 years up to a maximum of life in prison and up to a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation, and Nyuon is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Sioux Falls Police Department, Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office, and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation. Assistant US Attorney Kevin Koliner is prosecuting the case. Nyuon was remanded to the custody of the US Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
