Sioux Falls Man Indicted for Trafficking in Counterfeit Goods

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Sioux Falls man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for trafficking in counterfeit goods.

Senad Sacipovic, age 51, was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 7, 2012, for Trafficking in Counterfeit Goods. He appeared before US Magistrate Judge John E. Simko on March 8, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. The indictment also seeks the forfeiture of designer handbags, sunglasses, and clothing alleged to bear the counterfeit marks of Coach, Juicy Couture, Dolce & Gabana, USA, Chanel, Gianni Versace, Louis Vuitton, Oakley, Burberry, True Relition Brand Jeans, and Gucci.

The charge is merely an accusation, and Sacipovic is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant US Attorney Jeffrey C. Clapper is prosecuting the case. Sacipovic was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
