
Civil Rights Conference to Include Screening of the Movie “Bully”

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson has announced that the Civil Rights Conference scheduled for Monday, April 30, 2012, will include a screening of the movie “Bully.” The screening will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Century Stadium 14 Theatres, 2400 S. Carolyn Avenue (I-29 and 26th Street), Sioux Falls. A discussion following the movie will include Lee Hirsch, Director and Co-Producer, and Tom Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. Tickets may be obtained on Monday, April 30, between 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Civil Rights Conference registration table, located outside the Belbas Theatre at the Sioux Falls Pavilion. There is no cost. The Civil Rights Conference will run from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on April 30 and feature remarks from Assistant Attorney General Perez, U.S. Attorney Johnson, Andre Oliver, President of the Sioux Falls Diversity Council, J.R. LaPlante, South Dakota Secretary of Tribal Relations, and Judy Shepard, President and Co-Founder of the Matthew Shepard Foundation. The Conference will also include breakout sessions covering the topics of Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation, Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Bullying, and Police and the Community. |
