
Colorado Man Sentenced for Failure to Pay Legal Child Support

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Grand Junction, Colorado, man charged with Failure to Pay Legal Child Support was sentenced on May 30, 2012, by Chief US District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Richard D. Goodrich, age 36, was sentenced to 5 years of probation, a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund, and child support restitution in the amount of $22,425.33. Goodrich was indicted for failing to pay over $21,000 by a federal grand jury on July 6, 2011. He was ordered by the Third Judicial Circuit Court, Kingsbury County, to pay $348 per month for his minor child, commencing December 1, 1998. At the time of indictment, the total arrearage amount was $21,014.12. Goodrich pleaded guilty to the charge on March 30, 2012. This case was investigated by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant US Attorney Thomas J. Wright prosecuted the case.
