Two Make Initial Appearance on Immigration Charges

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that criminal complaints have been filed in U.S. District Court against Moises Felix-Gonzalez of Mexico and Leodan Antonio Erazo of Honduras for illegal reentry after deportation.

Both men appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge John E. Simko on August 27, 2012. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 2 years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine. The charges are merely accusations, and both men are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Assistant US Attorney Connie Larson is prosecuting the case. Both defendants were remanded to the custody of the US Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
