Man Sentenced in Immigration Case

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Engelberto Vasquez Salvador, age 29, a national of El Salvador, was sentenced on November 5, 2012, by US District Judge Charles B. Kornmann in Aberdeen to 103 days in custody. He will be turned over to immigration authorities for deportation upon his release from prison.

Vasquez Salvador was indicted for possession of a fraudulent immigration document by a federal grand jury on August 14, 2012. He pled guilty to the offense on October 1, 2012.

The defendant came into contact with law enforcement in Roberts County on July 27, 2012. At that time he had in his possession a fraudulent Permanent Resident card.

This case was investigated by the US Department of Homeland Security - Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Assistant US Attorney Connie Larson prosecuted the case.

The Defendant was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshal.
