
Woman Sentenced in Bank Embezzlement Case

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Sioux Falls woman charged with embezzlement was sentenced on December 19, 2012, by Chief US District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Lona Mahon, age 62, was sentenced to time served (one day) and 5 years of supervised release, beginning with 4 months of home confinement. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $14,400. Mahon was indicted by a federal grand jury on May 1, 2012, for embezzlement of bank funds. She pled guilty to the offense on September 21, 2012. Mahon, who worked at a Sioux Falls bank, embezzled approximately $23,000 over a two-year period. She repaid the bank $10,600 before sentencing. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant US Attorney Connie Larson prosecuted the case. |
