MARSHALL, Texas – A 29-year-old Karnack, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.

Britton Clay Podzemny pleaded guilty on Feb. 27, 2012, to possession of pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine and was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison on June 28, 2012, by U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap.

                According to information presented in court, on July 26, 2009, Podzemny purchased cold pills containing pseudoephedrine at Walgreens and Wal-Mart stores in Longview, Texas.  Podzemny also made additional purchases at other stores on other occasions in the area, all in furtherance of his methamphetamine manufacturing activities.  Podzemny was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 2, 2011.

                This case was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division and the Harrison County Sheriff's Office.  This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Ann Cozby.
