Five Individuals Plead Guilty to Drug Trafficking Activities in Virginia Beach
NORFOLK, Va. – The last of five defendants charged with conspiring to traffic heroin, cocaine, and marijuana in Virginia Beach pled guilty today in Norfolk federal court.
Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, made the announcement after following today’s plea hearing before United States District Judge Raymond A. Jackson.
Romaroe Eugene Scott, 29, of Virginia Beach, Va., pled guilty today to conspiracy, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and firearm charges. He faces a minimum of five years and up to life in prison when he is sentenced on August 11, 2011. Four co-conspirators -- Damion Kirkland, 29; Marcus Dentmond, 25; Larry Alonzo Oliver, Jr., 26; and Corey Silas Trowel, 34, all of Virginia Beach – previously pled guilty to related charges.
According to plea agreements and the statements of facts on file, the defendants admitted to have been involved in distributing approximately 100 kilograms or more of marijuana and possessing with intent to distribute controlled substances in the Newtown Road and Baker Road areas of Virginia Beach. Several pounds of marijuana, nearly one ounce of cocaine base, close to 1 kilogram of heroin and over $60,000 in criminal proceeds was seized when the defendants were arrested in October 2010.
This case was investigated by the DEA and the Virginia Beach Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin M. Comstock is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.
