NORFOLK, Va. – Rashid Irwin Gibson, 33, of Virginia Beach, Va., was sentenced today in Norfolk federal court to 10 years in prison for cocaine trafficking.   He previously plead guilty to this charge on January 11, 2011.
Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, made the announcement after Gibson was sentenced by Senior United States District Court Judge Henry C. Morgan.
According to court documents, Gibson was arrested in possession of packaging material and over four kilograms of cocaine which were found in a secret compartment in his vehicle, in the kitchen of his residence, and a dumpster.  A search of his residence also resulted in the recovery of two firearms.  He admitted to receiving and distributing, at a minimum, an additional 10 kilograms of cocaine from late 2009 to October 2010, in Virginia Beach.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Virginia Beach Police Department.  Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin M. Comstock prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
