NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Arthur Nakia Jones, 35, of Williamsburg, Va., was sentenced today to 240 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for his participation in a conspiracy to possess and distribute crack and powder cocaine.

Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, made the announcement after sentencing by United States District Judge Rebecca Beach Smith.  Jones plead guilty on March 24, 2011.

According to court documents, Jones was involved in the drug conspiracy from 1997 through 2006. He bought and sold powder cocaine, cooked powder cocaine into crack for distribution, and also bought and sold cocaine in Williamsburg, Newport News and Suffolk.  

            This case was investigated by the James City County Police Department and the Virginia State Police Tri-Rivers Task Force.  Assistant United States Attorney Eric M. Hurt prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
