Chester Woman Sentenced for Methamphetamine Conspiracy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 23, 2011

RICHMOND, Va. – Jennifer Marie Patterson, 33, of Chester, Virginia, was sentenced today to 36 months’ imprisonment for her role in a conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.

Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; Ava Cooper-Davis, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Washington Division Office; and Bryan Norwood, Chief of the Richmond Police Department, made the announcement after the sentencing by United States District Judge Robert E. Payne.

According to the plea documents, Patterson, who is a 2011 graduate of the University of Richmond Law School, and others conspired to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine from 2007 until March of 2009.  Patterson admitted to distributing between 500 grams and 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Patterson was part of a loosely confederated group of methamphetamine dealers in central Virginia.  Collectively, these dealers were obtaining methamphetamine from California, Oregon, Washington State and Washington, D.C.  The methamphetamine would be shipped by federal express and couriers between these different places.

The guilty plea is part of Operation Endgame, a major Organized Crime Drug Task Force investigation by the DEA and Richmond Police Department into the trafficking of methamphetamine.  The investigation, which began in the fall of 2007, is continuing.
