MARK McGLOVER, 25, and his mother, CYNTHIA McGLOVER, 48, both of Inglewood, California were sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Seattle in connection with the sex trafficking of juveniles. MARK McGLOVER was sentenced to seven years in prison, three years of supervised release and $5,000 in restitution for one count of Involuntary Servitude and one count of Conspiracy to Engage in Money Laundering. CYNTHIA McGLOVER was sentenced to two years of probation and three months of home detention for Interstate Transportation in Furtherance of Prostitution. Both pleaded guilty on September 14, 2007. At the sentencing of MARK McGLOVER, U.S. District Judge James L. Robart commented that McGLOVER had forced the juveniles into “horrifying circumstances.”

According to court records, MARK McGLOVER was arrested in California on October 30, 2006, after being indicted by a grand jury in Seattle. Between December 2005, and October 2006, MARK McGLOVER forced a juvenile to work as a prostitute for him. MARK McGLOVER admits that he brought the juvenile to the Seattle area from California and coerced the juvenile to work for him as a prostitute. The juvenile was required to turn over as much as $500 per day to MARK McGLOVER. MARK McGLOVER threatened to harm the juvenile, if the juvenile did not comply. CYNTHIA McGLOVER admitted in her plea agreement that she purchased a bus ticket for the juvenile, in a fake name, so that the juvenile could travel to Seattle to work for her son as a prostitute.

In August 2006, MARK McGLOVER agreed with his co-defendant ADRIAN NELSON to use money earned by two other juveniles who worked as prostitutes to promote their prostitution activities.

At the sentencing one of the juveniles spoke about being forced into prostitution at age sixteen. The juvenile recounted being locked in a hotel room and physically and sexually assaulted by McGLOVER. The juvenile urged the judge to impose a long sentence saying, “All the nights I cried and begged you (McGLOVER) to take me home. I want you to wish you did.”

As part of his three-year period of supervision following release from imprisonment, MARK McGLOVER will be required, among other things, to participate in a sexual deviancy treatment program. MARK McGLOVER will also be prohibited from having contact with children under the age of 18 years old, be employed in any capacity which would place him in contact with children under the age of 18 years, or go anywhere within 100 feet of an area where minors are known to frequent.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, FBI, and the Seattle Police Department.
