ISRAEL DAVIS, 25, of Bellevue, Washington, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Seattle to 200 months in prison and 5 years of supervised release for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. DAVIS pleaded guilty on April 20, 2007.

U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour imposed the sentence, saying it was in line with other defendants sentenced in the case.

According to records filed in the case, during 2006, DAVIS joined with two other defendants to distribute large amounts of methamphetamine. DAVIS, who has previous felony convictions for drug trafficking, is prohibited from carrying a firearm. However, on multiple occasions DAVIS brandished guns to threaten other drug dealers and a confidential informant. DAVIS joined co-defendant Albert Barrientes at his SeaTac compound. The residence was protected by a system of booby-traps and surveillance cameras. The compound was heavily armed to protect the drug supply. A search of the compound resulted in the seizure of seven firearms, including sawed-off and pistol-grip shotguns. Barrientes and DAVIS recruited teens to live at his compound, involving them in gangs, drugs and violence. Some were as young as 14-years-old.

In addition to his previous drug convictions, DAVIS has a prior conviction for illegal gun possession and multiple arrests for violently assaulting his girlfriends. According to the sentencing memo filed by Assistant United States Attorney Todd Greenberg, DAVIS has a lengthy record of violence against his girlfriends. “DAVIS punched one in the face and then repeatedly kicked her while she lay on the ground. In another case he punched the victim in the face, back and ribs; threw the victim into wall by grabbing her hair; and told the victim that if she cooperated with the police, “I’ll cut your throat.” And in a third instance DAVIS violently assaulted a victim who was five months pregnant. During this incident Davis threatened to kill the victim, grabbed her by the neck, strangled her for approximately one minute, and pointed a loaded gun at her head and other places throughout her body.

In November 2007, Barrientes was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The case was investigated by the ATF Violent Gang Task Force, including officers from the Seattle Police Department, King County Sheriff’s Department, and the Department of Corrections.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Todd Greenberg.
